Overview Metabolic
syndrome is a cluster of cardiovascular risk factors that is said to affect 47
million Americans. The syndrome is characterized by abdominal obesity, atherogenic
dyslipidemia, elevated blood pressure, insulin resistance, and prothrombotic and
pro-inflammatory states. Accurate diagnosis and aggressive treatment of this syndrome,
which includes lifestyle changes and pharmacologic interventions, are important
to the health of all patients, especially those with a diagnosis of type II diabetes.
In this Web Workshop, Frances M. Sahebzamani, PhD, ARNP, discusses the
root causes of the metabolic syndrome and will use a case study approach to demonstrate
how effective lifestyle changes and pharmacologic interventions can be used to
treat diabetic patients with metabolic syndrome. Learning
Objectives Upon completion of this course,
